John DeSimone is a professional memoir ghostwriter, editor, and novelist. He began working as a freelance editor for A-1 Editorial where he performed developmental and copy editing for both novelists and non-fiction writers. He guided authors through the developmental process of refining their voice and subject matter for publication. During that time he edited over a hundred books, both fiction and nonfiction.

For seven years, he worked with Christian Manuscript Critique Service, where he worked with Christian writers in both a developmental and copy editing capacity. He shepherded many authors into publication through detailed analysis and editing of their manuscripts.

He has also recently completed a business memoir for Lizanne Falsetto, Founder of ThinkThin, Inc., titled, Catching Bees. This story details her unorthodox and exciting journey as an entrepreneur from a fashion model to CEO of one of the fastest growing health bar companies in the nation.

John’s passion is shaping life stories into contemporary memoirs that are compelling to read. The modern memoir, to find traction in today’s competitive marketplace, must go head to head with fiction. Memoirs must be well-written and use a dramatic structure that creates an unstoppable reading experience. John is an expert at working with clients to develop a narrative structure that is both true to the facts but meets the high bar of today’s story-driven memoir marketplace.

John studied English literature at UC Irvine and received my MFA in creative writing from Spalding University.

From 2004 to 2012, he was the Director of the Orange County Christian Writers Conference held each spring in Irvine, California. During this time, the conference has grown to become one of the largest one-day inspirational conferences in California.

His first novel, Leonardo’s Chair, was published by River Oak in 2005. It’s an art mystery based on Da Vinci’s life. The book received good reviews and sold well.

From 2008 to 2011, he was an adjunct professor at Biola University where he taught freshman writing.

In May 2012, he won a Norman Mailer Fellowship and lived on Cape Cod for a month where he completed a draft of his fourth novel, Road to Delano.

John is an accomplished novelist, memoirist, and editor. He enjoys collaborating with authors to help them find their voice, develop their story, and realize their dreams of publishing a book worthy of their accomplishments.
